Research on the Influence of Superconducting Fault Current Limiter on the Reactive Active Support Capability of DFIG-Based Wind Turbine

In the last few years, wind power generation and energy storage have made significant progress in terms of technical level and unit capacity. The main application of wind turbines is the DFIG. Because its stator is directly connected to the mains, the terminal voltage of the DFIG drops sharply when the mains voltage drops sharply due to faults or other reasons. It will disconnect the generator from the power grid, and then affect the strength of the power grid, resulting in stability problems. The superconducting fault current limiter is used in some new measures to improve the LVRT capability of wind farms. This allows the terminal voltage of the double-fed wind turbine to be improved in the event of voltage dips. In this paper, its influence on the active reactive power support capability of a DFIG is analyzed. The results show that the use of a superconducting fault current limiter has a good effect on improving the reactive active support capability of double-fed wind turbines.
