Submarine Cable Routing Evaluation Method Based on Analytic Hierarchy Process

The selection of submarine cable routes is heavily dependent on human experiences and lacks quantitative analysis. In this paper, suitable calculation methods for routing selection, such as Analytic Hierarchy Process, Fuzzy Logic Method, and Expert Scoring Method is selected. This project is based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process and proposes a layered evaluation method based on key factors. First it screened out five major categories of impact decisions include marine functional areas, natural conditions, operating conditions, engineering costs, and special matters. Then it performed a judgment matrix on the influencing factors of each type of decision factor. This method simplifies relevant empirical formulas, highlights key elements, breaks the traditional way of human dominated routing comparison, and facilitates designers to conduct initial routing selection.
