Computer Vision based Smart Bot for Weed Detection and Removal in Vegetable Crop Fields

In agricultural areas, weeds are a recurring issue because they deprive vegetable plants of vital nutrients, water, and sunshine, which lowers crop quality and output. Traditional hand weeding techniques take a lot of time, labor, and are sometimes insufficient to remove large infestations of weeds. An inventive solution to this issue is the Smart Weed Detection and Removal Bot (SWDRB), which use image processing and computer vision techniques to autonomously detect and eliminate weeds in vegetable fields. The high-resolution camera on the SWDRB is intended to methodically scan the agricultural area. The technology uses sophisticated image processing algorithms to identify weeds from vegetables based on visual characteristics after taking pictures of the surrounding region. When weeds are identified, the SWDRB employs a precision weed removal mechanism such as chemical or mechanical techniques to destroy the undesired plants in a way that doesn't damage the food crops. The accuracy of the weed detection is 96%.
