Novel Mechanized Multiple Input Comparator

The need for high-performance and effective digital comparators has increased significantly in the rapidly evolving landscape of digital systems. This growing demand is particularly evident in applications like data sorting, digital signal processing, and arithmetic units. The performed research introduces a systematic approach to comparing multiple inputs in a digital comparator. The system is designed to handle four 4-bit inputs and identify both the minimum and maximum values in the system. The detailed methodology guides predominantly in determining the minimum and maximum inputs in this process. The operation necessitates a single digital comparator for this purpose. The conducted research encompasses in-depth examinations of behavioural descriptions, simulation results, synthesis, and implementation aspects of the proposed algorithms. Through rigorous testing and comprehensive analysis, the paper reveals the intricacies of these algorithms, showcasing their responsiveness, efficiency, and resource utilization. The findings not only present innovative methodologies for digital comparator design but also offer valuable insights for future advancements in digital signal processing techniques. The proposed comparator uses 43K kilobytes of storage capacity to compute operations, while its maximum limit can reach 150K kilobytes. Additionally, it is approximately 50% more efficient than the divide-and-conquer algorithm in terms of time complexity and the number of operations required. Further, the proposed algorithm opens a whole new world of opportunities by removing the restrictions of giving any specific output and providing a dynamic output which can eventually make a significant change in the way comparators work. Finally, the proposed design also has aspects of reducing the memory usage and hardware for comparing multiple inputs which can trim down the usage of additional space and required memory, respectively.
