Multi-Timescale Adjustable Capacity Assessment Considering Electrolytic Cell Output Side Energy Control

Considering the substantial regulatory potential of electrolytic aluminum following process optimization, quantifying the adjustable capacity of the electrolytic aluminum load enables its flexible participation in grid interactions, effectively alleviating issues related to insufficient grid regulation capabilities. To this end, this paper analyzes the energy balance mechanism of the electrolytic cell and the working principle of the heat exchanger, then combines electrical and non-electrical quantities to establish a thermal output control model and introduces a multi-time scale adjustable capacity evaluation method that takes into account the controllable energy on the output side of the electrolytic aluminum load. Simulation results show that the adjustability of electrolytic aluminum after the output side becomes controllable has been significantly improved, and it can operate on a longer time scale. This allows the load to have greater flexibility in terms of energy input and energy dissipation, providing a basis for electrolytic aluminum to participate in grid-load interaction in new power systems.
