Innovative Wearable Solutions for Monoplegia: A Thorough Examination of Recent Technological Progress in Therapeutic Devices

Monoplegia, a type of paralysis concentrated in a single limb, particularly the arm, affects millions of individuals worldwide. With approximately 1 in 50 people grappling with some form of paralysis, monoplegia accounts for a significant majority at 90%. While existing methods such as robotic hand gloves, VR techniques, and FES methods have been utilized to assist monoplegia patients, there is an opportunity to develop a more effective solution. Through the creation of a wearable therapeutic device specifically designed for individuals suffering from monoplegia, better therapy and support can be provided to improve their quality of life. Monoplegia represents a type of paralysis concentrated in a single limb, commonly the arm. Individuals experiencing monoplegia typically retain control over the remainder of their body but encounter difficulty moving or feeling sensations in the affected limb. Statistics from the report indicate that approximately 1 in 50 individuals grapple with some form of paralysis, affecting roughly 5.4 million people. Notably, monoplegia constitutes 90% of these cases, with the remaining 10% attributed to other variations of paralysis. There are many existing methods available for monoplegia patients, such as robotic hand gloves, VR method, and FES method; however, after a thorough survey of related work, the idea of developing a wearable therapeutic device for monoplegia patients will be a better replacement for the existing method. In light of this, a wearable therapeutic gadget for individuals suffering from monoplegia has to be developed to provide better therapy for the patients. The suggested wearable therapeutic gadget would be beneficial to individuals suffering from monoplegia paralysis.
