Analysis of Real-Time Cognitive Fatigue Detection Systems for Driver Safety

Cognitive fatigue in drivers is a significant concern for road safety as it is directly associated with traffic accidents. Fatigue reduces mental awareness, leading to drowsiness, blurriness, and an increased likelihood of errors. To reduce accidents and fatalities linked to fatigued driving, addressing this issue is essential. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of fatigue detection systems, exploring both microcontroller based wearable and camera-based computer vision approaches. By evaluating their effectiveness across various scenarios, including daytime and nighttime conditions, this analysis offers valuable insights into ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing driver monitoring systems and improving road safety.
