Multi Beam Based Free Space Optical Communication System to Improve the Performance Under Different Weather Conditions

As the need for quicker and more flexible data transmission methods grows, researchers are driven to free-space optical (FSO) communication because of its capacity to offer wireless access with higher bandwidth. In this work, a detailed comparison of single beam and multi beam configurations used in FSO communication system is presented. With the aid of OptiSystem16 software both single and multi beam FSO models are developed and simulated. Real-time data from the Indian Meteorological Department is integrated to assess attenuation rates under a range of meteorological conditions. Importantly, a key finding highlights the robustness and dependability of multi beam technology: in the case that a laser fails in the single beam configuration, the multi beam arrangement takes over, providing redundancy and maintaining connections. Its ability to function well in challenging environments like fog and heavy rain is especially impressive, as the multi beam design preserves better bit error rate values and enables communication over long distances.
