TCO/Si arrayed modulator device with expanded response in the complex plane

Transparent conducting oxides (TCOs) demonstrate promise for CMOS-compatible amplitude and phase modulators. However, single capacitors pose limitations on the independent modulation of real and imaginary permittivity, constraining modulation capabilities in the complex plane. To overcome this bottleneck, a multi-length array of TCO-heterojunction capacitors is introduced.
