Designing an Educational Chatbot for Enhanced Learning in Programming Courses

This study introduces a specialized Telegram chatbot developed for programming courses, which aims to boost student engagement and comprehension. The chatbot encompasses three principal functionalities: 1) A Query Module, which permits students to review assignment grades and previous code submissions, thus promoting a deeper understanding and the rectification of past mistakes; 2) A Learning Module, providing on-demand access to course content and instructional videos, that is tailored to individual learning paces, thereby increasing the convenience of instruction; and 3) A Q&A Module, that efficiently orchestrates the handling of student inquiries, offering notifications to both educators and inquirers, fostering a conducive Q&A atmosphere. Additionally, the research incorporates backend data analysis and student surveys to evaluate the chatbot's effectiveness. Preliminary results indicate that the chatbot relieves instructional burdens and enhances student motivation.
