HARIBON FOUNDATION LIPAD PH: An Android-based Mobile Application Framework featuring Threatened Air Species in the Philippines

The Philippines is a small island nation in Southeast Asia that is known as one of the most biologically rich countries in the world. There are a lot of unique species especially a bird that can only be found here in the Philippines. Over the years, the number of critically endangered species increases like the Philippine eagle, Sulu bleeding heart that hasn’t seen for the past 100 years and other air species due to habitat loss and poaching. It had a tiny population and confined in just one island. This paper proposes an Android-based mobile application that can help everyone to be aware of the critically endangered species and be able to know the conservation actions needed. By this, people will be able to see the importance of endangered species in the environment once they are gone. Also, species have a role in ecosystem stability. The advantage of using Augmented Reality is user can view the physical world environment through 3D models which are more exciting compared to plain texts and images that can see in typical websites and interactive learning incorporated in some other features of the application.
