Non-resonant Long – Wire Feed for Parabolic Antennas

A traveling wave long-wire antenna is proposed to be used as a feed for classical, prime focus, parabolic reflectors. A non-resonant long-wire antenna was computer designed and simulated, optimizing the impedance match and forward gain. The analyzed experimental antenna feed was tuned in the 5.8 GHz frequency band. A qualitative assessment of the radiation pattern, of the antenna feed alone, was made in indoor environment.
