Detecting and Analysing Open Geodata Reconnaissance Targeting Critical Infrastructure

The war in Ukraine since 2014 has raised questions about sustainability of the traditionally strong Open Data policies in Europe. Information describing the critical infrastructure objects are usually not provided as Open Data through Geospatial APIs, but many datasets providing highly useful information for reconnaissance on the surroundings of these objects are. This paper describes a method for automatically detecting and analysing likely reconnaissance of the surroundings of known critical infrastructure objects based on analytics of Web API access log data.
