Comparative Analysis of Identification Methods for Estimating the Electrical Equivalent Circuit of Domestic Induction Heating Systems

This paper presents a comparison between numerical algorithms for the identification of the equivalent electrical impedance of a domestic induction heating (DIH) system. For this identification, the current and voltage waveforms obtained through time-domain electromagnetic simulation will be used and a time variation of the load magnetic permeability has been selected to represent the dependence of cookware material properties on the level of excitation to which they are subjected. First, the considered algorithms are presented and their basis is described, explaining analogously the procedure followed for identification. Thereafter, the method of extracting the simulated current and voltage waveforms will be illustrated and a comparison will be drawn between the outcomes yielded by each algorithm and those obtained through electromagnetic simulation, which are taken as the reference. Finally, an analysis of the results obtained by each algorithm will be conducted by varying the switching frequency, describing which type of algorithm provides better outcomes for the identification in each frequency range.
