Possibility of Using a Potentiometric Sensor in Measuring the Concentration of Malachite Green

In this paper, the possibility of using a potentiometric sensor in malachite green (MG) resistance measurement is discussed and presented. Using potentiometric techniques, the resistance of different concentrations of malachite green is sensed by a voltage sensor. Further, the measured voltage is amplified by the instrumentation amplifier which allows it to be measured by the microcontroller through an analog-to-digital converter. Through the experiments conducted, the voltage measured due to various levels of malachite green concentration shows the possibility of using a potentiometric sensor to measure the level of malachite green. It was found that each level of malachite green gives a unique voltage hence the resistance reading can be concluded that the resistance through malachite green is directly proportional to the level of concentration of malachite green. The novelty of this paper is in the ability of the developed sensor to estimate the concentration level of Malachite Green.
