The Effect of Stator Teeth Slot Number on 0.5 Hp 3 Phase Induction Motor Performance

The induction motor's efficiency can be improved by changing the stator teeth slots number with good flux density. This paper constitutes an analysis of the effect of the three-phase induction motor with 0.5 Hp on the different numbers of stator teeth slot selection using theoretical calculation and MATLAB simulation environment in terms of flux density distribution and efficiency. The analysis is done by using the maximum flux density of three different numbers of stator teeth slots that worked as variables to see the efficiency output on 0.5 Hp three-phase induction motor. Based on the simulation results, the smaller the number of stator teeth slots is relative to the higher efficiency output produced based on the good range of maximum flux density. The observation made from this paper shows that the design of the stator teeth slots can be enhanced in terms of their shape and size to improve the stator parts' efficiency further.
