Surface Roughness of Electrical Terminal Blocks in the Plastic Injection Process

Surface roughness is an indicator of surface quality in the plastic injection industry. Selecting the appropriate conditions is one way to reduce surface roughness. The purpose of this study is to analyze surface roughness by finding factors that affect roughness and finding suitable factors for the plastic injection process of wire harness connector pieces. This experimental design examines the effects of 5 factors affecting surface roughness. In the analysis, the results from examining the surface of the workpiece and images from the laser electron microscope will be used to check for differences in the workpiece and the surface characteristics of the workpiece in the imperfect state of the workpiece and the perfect condition of the workpiece. The results of the study found that appropriate factors have a significant effect on the average surface roughness. The optimum conditions are the parameters: Injection pressure at 110 MPa, holding pressure at 50 MPa, holding time at 0.5 sec, Injection speed at 50 mm/s, and Injection Stroke at 10 mm., making it possible to reduce the roughness of the work surface and the perfect condition of the workpiece
