Improving Input Voltage Transient Response in Voltage Mode Control of DC-DC Boost Converter

The dc-dc boost converter is commonly utilized to elevate lower input voltages to higher output levels. However, sudden fluctuations in the input power supply can induce line transients, leading to noticeable overshooting and undershooting in the output voltage. These deviations have the potential to inflict damage on downstream equipment and cause operational disruptions. This study focuses on augmenting the transient response to input voltage variations in a dc-dc boost converter that uses voltage mode control. To improve the input voltage transient response, an additional adaptive gain was incorporated into the voltage control loop. Simulation results illustrated that the proposed method effectively minimized both undershoot and overshoot in the output voltage, even when confronted with varying input voltages.
