Enhancing Efficiency and Improving Power Quality in Grid-Connected 17-Level Multilevel Inverters for Renewable Energy Applications

This research paper underscores the critical importance of enhancing efficiency and refining power quality in grid-connected 17-level multilevel inverters (MLIs) utilized in renewable energy applications. With the escalating demand for sustainable energy sources, MLIs serve as pivotal components in efficiently converting and delivering power. The paper is dedicated to optimizing the performance of the 17-level MLI architecture, which is crucial for the grid integration of renewable sources. Through the implementation of advanced control strategies and innovative modulation techniques, the research endeavors to elevate the overall efficiency of the inverter system while simultaneously addressing concerns related to power quality. The investigation reveals a peak voltage total harmonic distortion (THD) of 324.51 Volts and an overall THD of 15.62%. The proposed models involve only 9 power switches, whereas the existing model necessitates 32. By effectively mitigating harmonic distortions and ensuring seamless power transfer, these proposed enhancements aim to significantly enhance the reliability and stability of grid- connected renewable energy systems. The findings offer a more robust and effective solution, facilitating the smooth integration of renewable energy into existing power grids.
