Temporal Analysis of NDVI, Carbon Monoxide, and Land Cover Correlation in the Algerian Territory

Urbanization is often associated with an increase in human activity, transport, and energy consumption, leading to higher carbon monoxide emissions on the one hand, but also a reduction in green spaces due to the building, road, and infrastructure constructions.The work presented in this article consists of a temporal analysis of the relationship between NDVI, carbon monoxide, and land occupation in Algeria.The study used five years of Sentinel-5P data to calculate carbon monoxide emissions, and MODIS data to calculate the NDVI index.The results of the temporal analysis showed that NDVI and carbon monoxide have an opposite correlation. This means that the greater the amount of vegetation, the less carbon monoxide there is in the air.
