Development of an Advanced Tool for the Automatic Detection and Correction of Irregular Defects in Raw Satellite Imagery

This paper presents the development of a robust tool for automatically detecting and correcting irregular defects in unprocessed satellite imagery, including erroneous or corrupted pixels, lines, and columns. The tool ensures the quality of the resulting data by removing defects while preserving the integrity and detail of the original image. Additionally, the tool's outputs enable operators and image quality analysts to swiftly identify the nature of these errors, whether temporary, random, or permanent, and determine their origins, such as optical payload failures, image acquisition or data transmission issues, data storage problems, electromagnetic interference, or environmental disturbances. The tool's results guarantee the reliability of the corrected data, ready for further processing and analysis.
