Low-Cost Dual-Band Transparent Antenna for WLAN Communication Systems

This paper presents a cost-effective dual-band transparent antenna designed for WLAN communications, operating at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Utilizing a low-cost 0.8-mm acrylic sheet substrate and 40-mesh copper wire conductor, the antenna, inspired by a monopole design, employs an F-shaped radiating patch fed by a microstrip transmission line. Simulated and measured results show strong agreement, revealing an impedance bandwidth of 240 MHz (2.26 – 2.50 GHz) and 500 MHz (4.96 – 5.46 GHz). With maximum gains of 2.1 dBi and 4 dBi, the antenna provides an omnidirectional pattern at lower frequencies and a bidirectional pattern at higher frequencies.
