A Dual-band, Dual-polarized, Single-layer-fed Millimeter-wave Dielectric Resonator Antenna Fully Compatible with PCB Process

This work presents a new design of dual-band dual-polarized dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) in the millimeter-wave (mmw) band. The DRA element is excited by a single-layered scheme, i.e. a probe-fed patch underneath it. A pin is loaded in the center of the DRA element in order to elaborate the concerned DR modes. Contributed by the patch and DR, the desired dual-band operation is achieved by virtue of the multiple resonate modes that elaborated in the concerned frequency bands. The resulting antenna element is compact (0.32λL× 0.32λL) and low-profile (0.11λL) with promising performance (λL is the free-space wavelength at the starting frequency).
