Epsilon-Near-Zero (ENZ) Antennas

Epsilon-near-zero (ENZ) metamaterials possess the exotic feature of infinite wavelength, which brings a uniform field distribution while decoupling the space and time. Benefiting from this feature, ENZ antennas have demonstrated promising characteristics, including geometrical flexibility and beam synthesizing ability. In this paper, we have overviewed the recent development on ENZ antennas, with theoretical analysis and demonstration on the key features. Firstly, a geometrical-flexible antenna design is showcased, with a fixed resonant frequency despite being translated into different topologies. Then, an antenna array with beam synthesizing technique is displayed, with arbitrarily reconfigurable radiation pattern.
