Evaluation of Automotive Glass Antennas Using Commercial Base Stations

This paper evaluates the performance of glass antennas for automotive use by conducting field tests in urban and rural areas using a coherent base station scanner. The study compares the glass antennas attached to the vehicle windows with rod antennas installed on the instrumental panel. Measurements of RSRP, SINR, correlation, and the channel capacity are taken, and the results indicate that glass antennas achieve higher channel capacity in rural regions compared to antennas on the instrumental panel. The study concludes that glass antennas offer advantages in terms of channel capacity, especially in rural areas.
