Standing Wave Dual-Band Substrate Integrated Waveguide Slotted Array Antenna for mmWave Automotive Radar Application

The design of a dual-band Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) slotted array antenna for millimeter-wave (mmWave) automotive radar application is presented. A single feed with a taper coplanar waveguide (CPW)-to-SIW transition excites the antenna. To generate a dual-band, rectangular slots of 60 and 77 GHz are etched on each side of the array. The proposed antenna works as a directional antenna at 60 GHz and an omnidirectional antenna at 77 GHz. With a single feed, the proposed dual-band antenna of 60 GHz and 77 GHz exhibit 13.5 and 15 dBi gain, respectively, and efficiency of 65% and 65.5%, respectively. Also, each band of the dual-band is wide, around 3.38 GHz (5.6%) and 3.37 GHz (4.37%), respectively.
