Efficient Multiple Moving Object Detection and Tracking by Uniform Rectangular Array-Based Surveillance Radar System

This paper proposes a phased array radar system based on a uniform rectangular array (URA) antenna that can detect several moving objects more accurately than conventional radar systems by calculating their ranges, angles, and velocities. By utilizing a 35×35 URA-based radar antenna with pulse integration technique and optimal weights in the phase-shift beamformer, the operation of efficient multiple object identification is carried out. This radar is able to scan from -90° to +90° and offers enhanced 3D search inside a broad scan volume with a narrower beamwidth. Four moving objects are projected to be efficiently recognized, visualized, and monitored within the surveillance area, along with their definite locations. Comparing the proposed radar system to current radar systems, the proposed phased array radar shows an impressive overall accuracy of 99.92% for range estimation, 95.22% for angle estimation, and 98.02 % for velocity estimation, according to the simulation results.
