Analysis of Highly Sensitive Simple Designed PCF-Based SPR Biosensor

Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) based on photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) is being investigated due to its unique light-guiding properties. It is very important to improve the sensor's sensitivity to enhance its sensing performance. Confinement loss, a characteristic of PCF-SPR biosensors, is pivotal in influencing sensitivity. In this study, our focus is on developing a straightforward PCF-SPR design with high wavelength and amplitude sensitivity, reducing confinement loss. The experimental results reveal that, for analyte refractive indices ranging from 1.31 to 1.38, the maximum wavelength and amplitude sensitivity are 4000 nm/RIU and 5607.58 1/RIU, respectively. Furthermore, the suggested SPR model will be easier to manufacture due to its simple geometry and small number of possible air holes.
