Trefoil Shaped Hollow Core SPR Voltage Sensor Infiltrated with Liquid Crystal

The surface plasmon resonance (SPR) phenomenon, renowned for its reliability and uniqueness, plays a pivotal role in designing compact and highly sensitive sensors. This phenomenon also serves to develop a photonic crystal fiber-based voltage sensor. In this manuscript, authors demonstrate a trefoil-shaped hollow core SPR voltage sensor that has been infiltrated with nematic liquid crystal. The sensor has undergone extensive characterization and simulation. The finite element method has been used to evaluate its performance over a wide voltage range (190V to 400V). The sensor exhibits an impressive wavelength sensitivity of 6 nm/V and linearity with R2 of 0.9911. It is noteworthy that it attains a wavelength resolution of 0.016667V and a maximum amplitude sensitivity of −349.56 RIU

. This suggested sensor is ideal for precise voltage measurements in complex situations because of its outstanding performance, wide sensing range, simple and compact design.
