Analysis of Various Attacks in Cognitive Radio Network and Security Provisions

Cognitive Radio Networks (CRNs) are built by extending the radio link capabilities to network layer functions. CRNs are more open to wireless networks with greater flexibility when compared with other traditional radio networks. As a result, CRNs face additional security risks than other conventional radio environments. The primary difficulties, security threats and security mitigation strategies in CRN are covered in this work. The attacks displayed are arranged according to the protocol layer on which they are being conducted. This research considers 25 research works concentrated on the various attacks and security provisions in CRN, and the analysis is enabled on various protection techniques and metrics. Different layers of CRN are considered for analysing the threats in CRN, which will include the details based on traditional wireless security issues and CRN security issues, layer-wise attacks and security provision, and adversary’s behavior to find malicious behavior and jamming attack. Lastly, the analysis is promoted in the survey based on the research technique, performance measures, tools used, publication year and attainment of research methods based on the various security attacks in CRN. To permit the motivations for various security attacks and their security-providing strategies in CRN, the research gaps and issues of the techniques are taken into consideration at the conclusion.
