Automated Medicine Delivery System in Hospitals

Delivery of medicines to patients in the hospital on a timely basis is very important for patient safety. Making sure the patient receives the prescribed medicines is a challenge, and this needs an effective solution. Therefore, this research proposes a method to address this problem. An automated medicine delivery system has been developed, which operates with precision and follows a predefined path, delivering medicines to patients in hospitals. This approach depends on NI myRIO 1900 (for processing the data), LabVIEW programming (for developing graphic-based programming), and PI control algorithm to control the vehicle’s speed. RFID technology is implemented in the vehicle, which enables the vehicle to stop at the designated locations and ensures delivery of proper medicines. The cabinet box system (which contains a lot of sub-compartments) is integrated into the vehicle, and uses a servo motor mechanism, which helps with the automatic opening and closing of compartments in the cabinet box, ensuring that the patient receives the prescribed medicines. The system achieves a speed of 35 RPM consistently during the operation and demonstrates notable response accuracy, ensuring timely medicine delivery to patients in hospitals.
