Second Generation Voltage Conveyor Based Floating Inductor and its Applications

This paper presents a novel implementation of a floating inductor achieved through the utilization of a second-generation Voltage Conveyor (VCII). The study delves into the exploration and design of various circuit topologies associated with floating inductors. Notably, a floating inductor operates autonomously, independent of a shared ground or reference point. The circuit design is based on transistor-level configurations with 180 nm Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (CMOS) parameters and a ±0.9 V supply voltage. The efficacy and versatility of the proposed circuitry are systematically affirmed through the practical implementation of an RLC band-pass filter setup. The resonant frequency of the filter is determined, followed by meticulous verification through LTSpice simulations. Additionally, a third-order Butterworth low-pass filter is utilized to evaluate the performance of the floating inductor. The frequency response of the third-order Butterworth filter is also realized, providing comprehensive insights into the circuit's behavior and capabilities. This exploration underscores the significance of floating inductors in modern engineering designs. It suggests avenues for their utilization in future circuit designs, providing insights that can inform advancements in various fields of electronics. (Abstract)
