From Functional to Projectized Organizations - PMO- Is it a Necessity?

As project management is becoming a major part of all organizations, the integration of projects within the organizational strategy is essential. This can take place through Project Managers (PMs) and establishing a Project Management Office (PMO). Introducing PMO as a formal organizational structure can contribute to the implementation of standard practices and processes, the training of teams, obtaining the support of top management and implementing project control software. This study employs the quantitative approach, utilizing a questionnaire that was distributed to a sample pf 50 participants. Data collected was analyzed via SPSS. Results have shown that project management is more effective in cases where a Project Management Office (PMO) is in place. The PMO results in a more consistent approach to implementing and managing projects.
