Assessing AI Adoption in the Workplace Through the Theory of Planned Behavior

The research is conducted using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) model to test the intention to use artificial intelligence (AI) by employees in the UAE. A slight modification is made to the TPB model for simplicity. It is observed that all three independent variables, namely, attitude (ATT), subjective norms (SN), and perceived behavioral control (PBC), have a significant impact on intention (INT) to use AI at the workplace among UAE employees. Furthermore, intention (INT) also has a positive effect on employee behavior (BEH) for those who are using AI at the workplace. A sample of 374 is collected using stratified sampling (as we want to be sure that employees are exposed to different forms of AI at the workplace). The R programming language is used to do the data analysis and reliability testing, along with discriminant and convergent validity. Hypothesis testing (a two-tailed t-test) is also used for the final outcomes of the research.
