EBG loaded SIW Based UWB Antenna for Dual-Band Notched Applications

The Substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) based dual band notched ultra-wide band antennas is presented in this paper. The top view of the antenna U shaped slot with SIW etched on top side of an antenna with unsymmetrical microstrip feed and defected ground is introduced in the bottom of the antenna for ultra-wide band (UWB) applications, further introducing meandered shaped EBG for notch band and the material used in this design is Rogers substrate RT 5880 having 2.2 dielectric substrate. The antennas cover a frequency range of 3.1 GHz to 12 GHz (i.e. UWB, bandwidth is 8.9 GHz) with two notched bands those are 5.6GHz (5G Applications) and 7.9GHz (X-band down link Satellite applications) with respect to -10dB reference line and matched with VSWR 1:2 ratio. The proposed antennas as good efficiency and radiation patterns for communication applications.
