Implementation of Low Powered CMOS Potentiostat in Biomedical Devices

Continuous blood glucose monitoring has been demonstrated in recent research to dramatically lessen the symptoms of diabetes. The “Wireless Implantable Microsystem for Continuous Blood Glucose Monitoring,” also known as the “implant,” proves to overcome problems such as painful needle sticks, irregular assessments and numerous trips to doctor's clinic and aims at improving the well-being of individuals with diabetes. This project focuses on software implementation of Continuous Glucose Monitoring system and optimizing it by integrating a low-powered CMOS potentiostat and minimizing the sensor size. This design allows for implantation just beneath the skin, enabling contact with blood from capillaries or interstitial fluid. This approach holds promise for long-term continuous glucose monitoring, addressing the limitations of current methods and enhancing the overall management of diabetes. It is designed using 0.18-µm CMOS technology with a full-scale measurable current of upto 0.95 µA and a supply voltage of 1.2 V.
