Prediction of Land Surface Temperature in Dry Zone, Myanmar Using MODIS Derived NDVI and LST

The amount of vegetation has a considerable influence on the distribution of land surface temperature (LST). Using satellite imagery from the Moderate-Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) MODIS11A2 and MODIS13A2, this study investigates the relationship between LST and the Normalized Difference of Vegetation Index (NDVI) for Myanmar's dry zone. Retrieving the LST and examining the connection between the LST and NDVI are the goals of the present study. The NDVI is used to examine the correlation between thermal behavior and the quantity of vegetation cover. Lastly, the correlation between NDVI and LST is obtained using the regression technique. It has been determined that there is a negative regression coefficient from NDVI to LST The model examined the best error measurements of a Mean Square Error (MSE) of 0.009 and a Relative Mean Squared Error (RMSE) of 0.018 in 80% of training and 20% of testing datasets.
