Multi-resource Retrofit Collaborative Planning of Power System Considering Flexibility and Economy

With the rapid development of wind power, photovoltaic, and other renewable energy sources, the power system is facing increasing consumption pressure. The existing units are not flexible enough, and the peak capacity is limited, resulting in ineffective release of photovoltaic and wind power capacity. The phenomenon of wind and solar curtailment is particularly severe. To enhance the peak shaving and valley filling capability of multi-resource units and achieve flexible operation, one effective solution is to establish a retrofit planning model for multiple resources on the generation side. Therefore, this paper proposes a multi-objective, multi-resource retrofit model that considers flexibility and economy in the power system. The paper considers the flexibility retrofit of coal-fired units, wind power units, photovoltaic units and energy storage units’ synergy optimization. Normal boundary intersection algorithm and model linearization are used in this model. The case simulation shows that the multi-resource coordinated optimization improves system flexibility and economy while solving the problem of load-cutting and wind and solar curtailment.
