Emergency Resource Scheduling Enabled Restoration Demand for Distribution Grid with Wildfire Risk

The implementation of an effective wildfire early warning system can significantly enhance the ability of the grid to detect potential outages. In addition, the strategic deployment of regional mobile power sources (MPS) including mobile energy generators (MEG) and mobile energy storage systems (MESS) can facilitate the creation of isolated power supply areas, enabling the rapid restoration of regional loads and ultimately improving the overall resilience of the grid. In this paper, the cellular automata model is proposed to simulate the temporal and spatial process of wildfire occurrence. The model is used to predict the initial time and location of the wildfire entering the safety buffer zone of the transmission line. Then, the probability of the power line tripping due to the wildfire is analyzed by considering the wildfire prediction results and the air gap failure mechanism. Finally, a PSPS (Public Safety Power Shutoff) plan is developed based on the above results. Then, with the aim of minimizing the cost of outage, the cost of MEG and the operating cost of MESS, the power grid restoration strategy considering the MPS scheduling after mountain fire is proposed. Finally, a revised actual power grid in Liangshan Prefecture, China is taken as an example to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, which can effectively reduce the impact of wildfire on the power grid.
