Carbon Emission Accounting Method Based on the Whole Life Cycle of Overhead Transmission Lines

Human existence and development are threatened by global climate change, therefore, energy conservation and emission reduction is imperative. In this study the carbon emission factor method is proposed to count the carbon emission during the construction of overhead transmission lines, as complete life cycle method as the theoretical basis. Timelines, regionality, applicability and authority are considered as the evaluation criteria. By analyzing and comparing the carbon emission factors of electric energy, fossil fuels, auxiliary materials and mechanical benches, the applicable carbon emission factors are listed for overhead transmission line projects, and a carbon emission calculation model is established. Then, an actual case is applied to illustrate the calculation processes, and the results are compared and analyzed to verify the practicability and accuracy of the mathematical model.
