Optimal Configuration of Pumped-Hydrogen Coupling Energy Storage System for Island Microgrid

The use of pumped storage in island microgrids will result in storage resources not being able to match loads in a timely manner, which seriously affects power supply. The combination of hydrogen and pumped storage as an island energy storage scheme will effectively solve the above problem. To this end, this paper proposes the optimal configuration method of island microgrid with pumped-hydrogen coupling energy storage system. First, the optimal configuration model of the island microgrid is established with the objective of minimizing the investment cost and penalty cost. Then, in order to optimize the power allocation mechanism of microgrid, according to the operation characteristics of power generation and energy storage components, the coordinated operation strategy is constructed. Finally, a practical case of an island in Zhejiang Province, China was carried out. This case study indicates that this method can effectively improve the utilization rate of renewable energy and enhance the economic efficiency of island microgrid construction.
