Optimal Resource Allocations for the Multi-microgrid System Considering Various Operation Modes and Grid-friendly Interactions

The multi-microgrid (MMG) has been developed to improve the reliability and flexibility of microgrids (MGs) recently. This paper proposes a two-stage optimization model of the resource allocations in MMGs. In stage I, resource allocation decisions are made to minimize the annualized investment costs and annual maintenance costs. In stage II, with the allocation scheme from stage I, the annual average operational costs considering various operation modes and grid-friendly interactions are minimized. The genetic algorithm (GA) and gravity search algorithm (GSA) are combined to solve the proposed model effectively. Numerical simulations show that the resource allocation scheme obtained by considering various operation modes is more effective for actual multi-mode operation, and the unmeet power demand of the main grid to the MMG is reduced with the consideration of grid-friendly interactions.
