Optimal Placement of Carbon Measurement Devices on the Demand Side of Electric Power Systems

This study examines the user-side deployment of electric carbon meters, exploring their impact on electricity consumption behavior and cost savings over a ten-year horizon. Three scenarios, encompassing various carbon pricing and cost conditions, were established for comparison. Our findings indicate that for residential users, first-tier consumers with lower consumption may not require electric carbon meter installation. However, some second-tier users with higher consumption patterns could benefit from deployment due to potential cost savings. For industrial and commercial users, the optimal strategy hinges on the number of meters installed within their facilities, with single meters sufficing for some, while larger enterprises may require multiple meters for accurate data capture and cost optimization.
