Design of Photovoltaic Power Supply DC Microgrid System for Container-type Plant Factory

Containerized plant factories have been used progressively in recent years to cultivate vegetables and seedlings in dry desert regions, but their large-scale promotion remains hampered by their high construction and energy costs. This article adopts photovoltaic power production, builds a complete DC microgrid system, and investigates a highly dependable and energy-efficient power supply scheme based on the energy requirements of containerized plant industries. The load characteristics and energy demand of containerized plant factories are first analyzed in this paper. Next, the PV-powered DC microgrid system is designed in a modular fashion, and the system’s light, storage, load, and power electronic equipment are numerically modeled. Finally, the designed DC microgrid system is simulated under typical working conditions using MATLAB/Simulink, taking into account a variety of operating conditions. The findings demonstrate that the model may be modified to account for the load characteristics of firms that use containerized plants and achieve a steady supply of energy.
