Assessment of N-1 Security in Power Systems Considering Thermal Characteristics of Overhead Conductors

The proposed approach considers the dynamic effects of load dispatching plans and meteorological parameters, resulting in a more accurate and practical N-1 security assessment considering the thermal characteristics of overhead conductors. Novel security indices and sorting criteria are proposed, capturing the evolving nature of N-1 accidents. Additionally, an efficient method for rapidly calculating overhead conductor temperatures is presented, significantly improving assessment speed. The method’s effectiveness is demonstrated through a case study on a 6-node AC power system, showcasing reduced computation times while maintaining precision. The research contributes to power system security assessment and decision-making, bridging theory and practical applications.
