Analysis of Interaction Between Power Angle Stability and Voltage Stability for Sending-end Power Systems with Renewable Energy Considering LVRT

The low voltage ride through (LVRT) capability is an important feature of renewable energy to guarantee voltage stability with the raising of the proportion of new energy. Meanwhile, power characteristics of renewable energy during LVRT will further affect the angle stability of synchronous generators. In order to explore the interaction between the stability of power angle and voltage for sending-end power systems with a high proportion of renewable energy, this paper firstly deduces the coupling relationship between active power and reactive power of wind power during LVRT, and the mechanical power and electric power of synchronous generators are derived before, during, and after a three-phase short circuit fault by taking a sending-end power system with wind power as an example. The instability modes of power angle and voltage are analyzed, and the interaction between the stability of power angle and voltage are revealed. Finally, the effects of wind turbine generator and LVRT parameters on the interaction of power angle stability and voltage stability are simulated and analyzed based on the PSASP platform.
