Research on Carbon Reduction Potential of CVR Technology

Conservation voltage reduction (CVR) technology is an effective way to promote system energy saving and relieve peak power supply pressure, but its carbon emission reduction potential has not been explored yet. This paper fully explores the factors affecting the implementation effect of CVR technology, and builds a CVR operation model in distribution network based on carbon flow theory with the goal of minimizing system carbon emissions. The experimental simulation is carried out in the extended IEEE33 node distribution network system. The experimental results show that implementing CVR with the goal of minimizing the total active power consumption of the system is not the same as the goal of minimizing the total carbon emissions of the system, and CVR has a certain carbon emission reduction capability.
