Success Factors for the Adoption of Paperless Ecosystem in Manufacturing Firms

Digitalization has opened a new era of modern challenges in every industry. Digitalizing and creating smart factories will significantly impact organizations and factory workers' lifestyles and jobs. Although most companies are adopting digitalization and expect it to ultimately bring a paperless ecosystem, it is still a great concern to come up as an organization where all operations/processes become completely digital or a paperless ecosystem. It is expected to use the terms “paperless”, “electronic”, and “digital” interchangeably to describe paperwork that has been eliminated through information and communication technology. The focus of this study is to compile a comprehensive list of success factors specific to seamless approval and implementation of a paperless environment in the workflows of manufacturing firms with a case study in an aircraft manufacturing firm. The outcomes of this research work show the distinct success factor of adopting a paperless ecosystem in a manufacturing firm in India. These findings are valuable for industry stakeholders and contribute significantly to advancing literature concerning the integration of information technology adoption, paperless initiatives, and the broader landscape of digitalization.
