Control and Communication Topology Assignment

Summary

Note that intervehicle communication topology (IVCT) is a key important factor for connected vehicle control. Since IVCT and controller two aspects are strongly coupled, the most efficient way to improve the control performance of connected vehicles is to jointly design the IVCT and controller in a unified control framework. In this chapter, the authors aim to establish a unified framework to jointly assign the IVCT and design the associated controller for vehicular platoons subject to unreliable IVC and stochastic external disturbances. They adopt the LTE‐V2V network because it can provide more reliable intervehicle communication with lower latency and higher data transmission. A sampled‐data feedback controller is proposed for platoons, wherein the controller gain is dependent on the IVCT. The authors describe the effectiveness of the proposed control method through numerical simulations.
