Simple, Economical & Innovative Solution for Obsolescence Management of Active x3 MIC Based RF Freq Multiplier

This paper details about practical application of obsolescence management. In this paper MIC based application of RF Built-In Test Equipment (BITE) is discussed where a RF signal from C band is converted to X band signal using an active x3 RF multiplier. The obsolescence of the MMIC based x3 multiplier IC had halted the production of the said BITE module used in EW applications. An alternate economical solution in same real estate and same operative conditions was the need of the hour. The transmitted harmonic power in X band, supply & current consumption, suppression of fundamental frequency in C band, and phase noise aspect are some of the key aspects that was needed for meeting system specification. Thus, an alternative approach which is simple, economical and meeting system specification accommodated in same real estate has been designed and discussed in this paper
